Firefighters fire “Turkey Feather” north of Canadian River; 350 acres, 20% embanked

The Texas A&M Forest Service reports the fire has burned about 550 acres and is 80% contained.

The Texas A&M Forest Service reports the fire is 550 acres and is 30% contained.

According to Steven Denny of Potter County Fire-Rescue, further progress in fighting the fire has stopped.

DUMAS, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Firefighters battle a grass fire Thursday near North 287 north of the Canadian River.

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the Turkey Feather Fire covers 350 acres and is 20% contained.

Officials say the fire is burning north of the river and west of Highway 287. Potter County Fire-Rescue, Randal County Fire, Texas Forest Service, the Potter County Sheriff’s Office and Potter County Road and Bridge are battling the fire.
