According to an article by Parksville, Parksville was named one of Canada’s top ten cities to retire Insight Magazine.
Highlighted were the city’s mild year-round climate, scenic golf courses and parks, and boating, kayaking, and other opportunities to enjoy the Strait of Georgia.

Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Amir Tabatabaei agrees that the city is a great place to retire, adding that it is also a safe and inclusive community in which to raise a family , start a business and enjoy the region’s first-class nature.
“More and more people are choosing to come to Parksville to start a new life and be part of this wonderful community,” Tabatabaei said. “I know from my own experience! I come from Manchester in the UK, which is a world-class city in every way, but like many people who visit and fall in love with this place, I was blown away within a few weeks of my stay.”
Parksville joined Victoria and the Okanagan Valley for the named locations in British Columbia The listwhich also includes Calgary, Canmore, Alta, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Ottawa, Quebec City, Fredericton and Halifax.
