The Canadian government officially opened the country’s borders to foreigners.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, OTTAWA – The Canadian government has officially opened the country’s borders to foreigners. The border opened after nearly 16 months of closure due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Reported from telesurenglish, Tuesday (20/7), starting August 9, people who have been vaccinated in Penh and permanent residents of the United States (US) will be allowed to re-enter Canada. International travelers can also enter the country from September 7, as the pandemic situation is expected to improve.

However, people who have not been fully vaccinated will still be prohibited from entering Canada. In addition, there is a list of vaccines that apply to this regulation, namely Pfizer / BioNYech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.

Vaccines other than those listed, such as those manufactured by China and Russia, will not be recognized by Canada. Officials said they would continue to review the implementation of this policy and announce if any other appropriate changes need to be made.

Meanwhile, unvaccinated minors under the age of 12 who enter Canada with a vaccinated parent or guardian do not need to undergo a 14-day quarantine. In another policy change, fully vaccinated travelers do not need a COVID-19 test after arrival, unless they have been randomly selected for this screening.

All travelers coming to Canada, regardless of their immunization status, will be required to obtain a negative PCR or molecular test result within 72 hours of entering the country.
