Something happened that was clear since last summer. Serdar Azmun leaves Zenit for Bayer. Not now, in the summer. In general, the situation turned out to be strange, logical and expected. The club knew very well that Azmoun would leave this summer. Moreover, the Iranian’s negotiations with Bayer and even his meeting with representatives of the German club in Dubai became no secret. Even the signing of a contract at this meeting was allowed. But the very fact of the announcement came like ice in winter for the governor of St. Petersburg – all of a sudden.
Usually, Zenit transfer announcements are always synchronized with the seller’s or buyer’s club. In recent years, there have been exceptions only with the same Kokorin and Artem Dzyuba, who also signed a contract with Zenit six months before the expiration of the agreement with Spartak. What happened – Bayer’s false start or Zenit’s myopia – is hard to say. But obviously the clubs have been in contact since last summer. And such a trifle may well be agreed.
On the other hand, it could very well be Bayer’s ‘revenge’ for the summer. In July, Leverkusen already believed that an agreement with Zenit had been reached. But at the last moment I had to play everything again because of a sudden refusal from St. Petersburg. Which upset both Bayer and, it seems, Azmun himself, who, after the transfer window closed, delivered his most modest segment to Zenit.
There is another version that the announcement was made without the knowledge of Zenit. The other day, the general director of the club, Alexander Medvedev, hinted in an interview with RIA Novosti that the agreement on the transfer to the Saint Petersburg club of Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto is about to be finalized. concluded: “As for Alberto, we will announce the result when it is.”
Such words could well be seen as a call to action: they say, we agree on a replacement for you, you can leave. Azmoun, sitting on his suitcases for six months, could well perceive this information in this way.
