Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Binance Founder and CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has been named one of the richest people in the world. The head of the cryptocurrency exchange company is said to have assets of $96 billion or the equivalent of 1,370 trillion rupees.

In the report CNN InternationalWealth the Canadian citizen himself began to compete with several other world famous billionaires such as Larry Ellison. In fact, Zhao has already outnumbered the wealth of Indian tycoon, Mukesh Ambani.

FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried said it was a testament to the unprecedented increase in wealth. FTX itself is one of the companies backed by Binance and Zhao.

“I think there are a lot of people trying to figure out what to do with [itu]Friedman, who is also a young billionaire, said during a virtual onstage discussion at the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong.

Zhao himself did not shy away from being crowned one of the richest people in the world. Zhao said the wealth he possessed would be useless if it was not useful to the community at large.

“Don’t worry about the rankings. Focus on how many people you can help,” he wrote on his official Twitter account, Monday (10/1/2022). “Unpopular opinion: instead of a wealth ranking, there should be a ranking of charitable and philanthropic efforts,” he tweeted.

A Binance spokesperson told CNN Business that Zhao plans to donate most of his fortune to charitable programs. Unmitigated, Zhao is even willing to donate 99% of his total wealth.

Zhao himself started Binance in 2017. Previously, the McGill University computer science graduate worked at McDonald’s to help support his family.

Zhao is said to have discovered bitcoin in 2013 while playing poker. In the process, he became very interested in cryptocurrency and even sold his apartment for bitcoin.

Meanwhile, the company he founded is currently also facing cryptocurrency regulatory hurdles around the world, including in the UK and Canada. Zhao said that was actually a good thing and wrote that the strict regulations reflected wider recognition.
