(CNN) — This week in travel news, a new high-speed train is unveiled in Europe, an RAF plane carrying Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin set a new flight tracking record and a Canadian family collects ‘visual memories’ from around the world before three of the children lost their sight.

UK mourns Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth has visited more than 120 countries during her 70-year reign: she has seen regimes change, countries come together and fall apart, the end of the British Empire and the rise of globalisation. Here are some of his more memorable trips around the world.
And even now, she’s still setting travel records: The plane carrying her coffin from Edinburgh to London on September 13 has become the most followed ever on the aviation website Flightradar24.
Many tributes to Queen Elizabeth are to be expected in the weeks and months to come, but one of the first aviation-related honors came from France: the small seaside airport of Le Touquet Paris Beach was renamed after the end of the queen.

Trains and airplanes

In the United States, Amtrak has canceled long-distance rail routes ahead of a proposed freight rail strike which – at the time of writing – had been avoided after an agreement has been reached. Then on Friday, hundreds of European flights were hit by a air traffic control strike. Disruption is also expected on Monday, as London Heathrow Airport said some flights would be canceled or delayed to keep the airspace quiet during events marking the Queen’s funeral.
And in Asia, the cafes on Hanoi’s popular “train street” – where trains run along a track a short walk from homes and businesses – have been ordered to close by September 17, with shop owners given just a few days’ notice.

A retired nurse helped save a baby’s life who had stopped breathing on a Spirit Airlines flight from Pittsburgh to Orlando. Tamara Panzino was able to resuscitate the 3-month-old and says within minutes, she knew that “we were free at home”.
Not all passengers were so helpful. A New York woman was recently sentenced to four months in jail after she and her co-defendant engaged in “unruly and intimidating behavior” on a February 2021 American Airlines flight from Dallas to Los Angeles.

Asian record holders

The 326-meter-tall glass Bailong Elevator sits in one of China’s national parks that many believe inspired the setting for the hit movie “Avatar.”

At 326 meters (or 1,070 feet), the Bailong Elevator in China’s Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the world’s tallest outdoor elevator. It offers stunning views of the park’s towering karst formations, which are said to have inspired the sets for the 2009 film “Avatar.”
