Calgary: Keralite expatriate Godly Mabel became the youngest flight instructor in North America by earning a Flight Instructor Rating License from Transport Canada at the age of 19.

Mabel, from Calgary in Canada, had also achieved the feat of becoming the youngest Indian woman to earn a commercial pilot’s license in March 2022.

After graduating from high school at Bishop McNally High School in Calgary, she earned a private pilot’s license from Springbank Air Training College, a commercial pilot’s license from the Calgary Flying Club, a multi-engine IFR rating and a pilot’s license. flight instructor at Kanata Aviation College. With her latest achievement, Mabel has taken an important step on her journey to becoming a line captain.

The minimum age to be an airline pilot is 21, according to Transport Canada rules, so Mabel has to wait another two years to reach her goal. Shortly after obtaining the license, Mabel received several offers to become a flight instructor from the various flight schools in Calgary and surrounding towns.

Godly Mabel is the eldest daughter of Keralite expats Aby and Rose Aby, who immigrated to Canada in 2017. She has a brother Ryan Aby.
