Suggestions for introducing children to the world of the arts – Culture

by Ainsley Ingram

This week I have booked four interesting exhibitions to visit with the whole family and which are guaranteed to be fun for the children. Discover more tour options on www.bora.ai.

“Balance” at the Japan House

Presented on the ground floor of the Japan House, work Balance it is an installation with more than 9,000 balloons, 11 meters long and more than 3 meters high. The balloons are covered with an outer layer of polarized film and, when light falls on the installation, an immanent color spectrum is revealed in the exhibition space, in an effect similar to that of the Northern Lights.

The installation has a strong visual impact and children can walk through it following a defined route. The work was designed exclusively for the institution by the duo Marguerite balloon, formed by Rie Hosokai and Takashi Kawada, and internationally known for their balloon designs.

Until 11/28/21. Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat Sun and holidays, 9 am / 6 pm. Ground floor of Japan House SP. Free admission. We suggest you book online in advance via establishment website

Millennial shadows in Farol Santander

Another fun program to take with the kids is the exhibit Thousand-year-old shadows, at Farol Santander. The new exhibition brings together large-scale sculptures and installations by the duo HYBYCOZO, formed by the Ukrainian Yelena Filiptchuk and the Canadian Serge Beaulieu. The works work with a balance between light and shadow, combining technology and geometry from which are born interesting and playful visual effects. The site also offers other exhibitions accessible with the same ticket: The other reality e Future of space.

Millennial shadows: until 6/3/22. Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. R $ 25 (full visit to Farol Santander). To buy in line or on site

Children’s Biennale

Inside of São Paulo Art Biennale, a Children’s Biennale offers programming specially adapted to early childhood. During the meeting, the team takes the little ones (accompanied by those in charge) for a visit where they highlight the curiosities and playful elements of the works. It is not necessary to make an appointment in advance. The mediator will meet you at the meeting place, located in the mediation space on the ground floor.

Saturdays (30/10, 6/11 and 13/11), from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion, Ibirapuera Park. Free admission

Street art in Batman’s Alley

O Beco do Batman is an urban art gallery in an alley in Vila Madalena. Since 1980 it has attracted fine arts students and established artists, so the graffiti on the walls never stays the same for long and the program can be repeated several times. Children are enchanted by the colorful arts which also make great photos. You can take the tour any time and day of the week – however, Monday through Friday there are fewer visitors.
