Saskatchewan advances to the 2024 Brier playoffs

Team Saskatchewan, skipped by Mike McEwen, is the first team to qualify for the 2024 Montana’s Brier. On Wednesday, McEwen won both games comfortably. First he beat the Northwest Territories 10-2 in the morning and then Nunavut 9-3 in the evening. As a result, he improves to a record of six wins and one loss and is top of Pool B.

Four other teams in Pool B are fighting for two places. Team Canada and Prince Edward Island are 5-2, while Alberta and the Northwest Territories are 4-3. This afternoon Canada plays Alberta and Prince Edward Island plays the Northwest Territories. The winners of each game advance.

In Pool A, Brad Jacobs of Manitoba, Northern Ontario and Alberta are all tied for first place at 5-1. Matt Dunstone of Manitoba is in fourth place at 4-2 and British Columbia is in fifth place with four wins and three losses. This morning, Alberta plays British Columbia while Northern Ontario plays Dunstone. This will be British Columbia’s final game as Jacobs faces Yukon. Tonight Bottcher faces Jacobs, Dunstone faces Newfoundland and Northern Ontario faces Yukon. Although Newfoundland’s Andrew Symonds and Prince Edward Island’s Thomas Scoffin are eliminated with records of one win and five losses, they have a chance to play spoilsport on Thursday.
