Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Center under investigation

by Naomi Parham

The City of Ottawa is investigating City-funded community housing programs at Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre.

“City staff have worked with their management and Board of Directors to ensure accountability for the delivery of City-funded services and programs,” said Suzanne Obiorah, Director of Gender Equity and races, inclusion, aboriginal relations and social development in Ottawa. .

The investigation was prompted by an anonymous complaint about the center’s community housing portfolio, CEO Christopher McIntosh said in an emailed statement.

The city investigates all complaints it receives about city-funded programs, Obiorah said. Any organization that receives municipal funds must submit annual funding applications and program financial reports. They must also prove that their organization is financially viable.

“If there are any concerns about the liability of city-funded programs, additional monitoring and reporting is implemented on a case-by-case basis,” Obiorah said.

Center CEO Christopher McIntosh confirmed he and council officials met with the city on July 26.

“We have been advised that an anonymous complaint has been received regarding our community housing portfolio and that the city will be investigating,” he said.

McIntosh said they would cooperate with the investigation but would not be able to comment on related matters.
