Five KHL players included in US squad for Beijing Olympics

TASS, January 14. The United States ice hockey coaching staff has announced the roster for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. This was reported by the press service of the American Ice Hockey Federation.

The Olympic men’s hockey tournament begins on February 9. Team USA will face China (February 10), Canada (February 12) and Germany (February 13) in the group stage. The United States will be represented at the Olympics by players from the Continental Hockey League (KHL), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), American Hockey League (AHL), Swedish and German championships.

Team USA included goaltenders Drew Kommesso (Boston University, NCAA), Strauss Mann (Skelleftea, Sweden) and Pat Nagle (Lehigh Valley, AHL); defensemen Steven Kaempfer (Ak Bars, KHL), Brian Cooper (Oskarshamn, Sweden), Brock Faber (Minnesota, NCAA), Drew Hellson (Boston College, NCAA), Aaron Ness (Providence, AHL), Nick Perbyx (St. Cloud State, NCAA), Jake Sanderson (North Dakota, NCAA) and David Warsovsky (Ingolstadt, Germany); forwards Andy Miele, Kenny Agostino (both Torpedo, KHL), Brian O’Neill (Jokerite, KHL), Nick Shor (Siberia, KHL), Nathan Smith (Minnesota State, NCAA), Brendan Brisson, Matthew Bennier (both Michigan, NCAA), Sean Farrell, Nick Abruzzese (Harvard, NCAA), Noah Cates (Minnesota-Duluth, NCAA), Sam Entges (St. Cloud State, NCAA), Ben Myers, Matthew Nice (Minnesota, NCAA), Mark McLaughlin (Boston College, NCAA).

Former New York Rangers head coach David Quinn will lead Team USA for the Beijing Olympics, along with assistants Mike Hastings, Brett Larson, Scott Young, David Lassond and Alex Dawes. John Vanbiesbroek will be the general manager.

The Beijing Olympics will take place from February 4 to 20.
