Nashville Predators center Cody Glass of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded his first career National Hockey League hat trick on Saturday. He achieved this feat in the Nashville Predators’ 5-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, scoring a goal in each period.
Glass opened the scoring at 15:18 in the first period. Colton Sissons of North Vancouver, British Columbia and Ryan McDonagh picked up the assists. Glass then gave the Predators a 2-1 lead with a game-winning goal from Alexandre Carrier of Quebec City, Quebec and Thomas Novak at 14:26 of the second period. Then, 53 seconds before the end of the final frame, Glass shot into an empty net, tying the score. Michael McCarron and McDonagh had the assists.
Two Canadians scored for the Predators. The other was Ryan O’Reilly of Clinton, Ontario.
In 34 games, Glass has five goals and five assists for 10 points. He is a -11 with 20 penalty minutes, one game-winning goal, one power play point, 69 shots on goal, 90 faceoff wins, 18 blocked shots, 28 hits, 11 takeaways and 14 giveaways.
The Predators are red hot right now. They have now won eight games in a row. Nashville’s record is 35 wins, 25 regular season losses and two overtime losses, for 72 points. They are in seventh place in the Western Conference.
