by Naomi Parham

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), four egg brands distributed from Saskatchewan are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

The brands affected by this recall are Compliments, Harman, Star Egg and No Name.

According to a Canadian government recall notice released Saturday, contaminated eggs may not look or smell spoiled, but they can make consumers sick.

Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and anyone with weakened immune systems could be vulnerable to “severe and sometimes fatal infections,” Health Canada warned in the news release.

Short-term symptoms may include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

  • Specific recalled products include:
  • Compliments for big eggs
  • Medium size harman eggs
  • No name large white eggs
  • Star Eggs extra large and large eggs

The specific Serial number for recalled products can be found on the Health Canada website.

Consumers who are unsure whether they purchased any of these recalled products are encouraged to contact their retailer for confirmation. You are also encouraged to either throw away these eggs or return them to the place where they were purchased, says Health Canada.

The recall was triggered by test results from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
