Team Canada failed to beat Finland, losing in a post-game shootout series (2:3 B). Despite the loss, the team held on to the chances of reaching the playoffs.

As part of Canada, the scoring was opened in the first minutes of the game by striker Brandon Pirrie (1st minute). The Canadians’ second goal was scored by Max Comtois midway through the second period (28th minute). Among the Finns, Artt Ruotsalainen managed to shine twice (21st and 56th minutes).

The decisive shootout in the post-game series was also achieved by Ruotsalainen.

The Finnish national team scored 17 points and secured their place in the tournament playoffs. Despite the loss, the Canadians kept their chances of advancing to the playoffs, the team climbed to third place, collecting 10 points in 7 games. For the first time in their history, the Canadians could miss out on the playoffs if teams from Germany (9 points) and Latvia (9 points) determine the winner in overtime or a shootout. The match will start at 8:15 p.m. Moscow time.

The quarter-final matches will take place on May 3, the new world champion will be announced on June 6.
