Alpine Canada | News | Nullmeyer sixth and St-Germain seventh in the World Cup slalom

by Ainsley Ingram

Calgary, AB. (November 12, 2023) — Two Canadian women placed in the top 10 at today’s FIS Alpine Ski World Cup race in Levi, Finland. Ali Nullmeyer (Toronto, ON) took back-to-back sixth-place finishes this weekend, while Laurence St-Germain (St. Ferréol- les-Neiges, QC) finished seventh today.

Under blue skies and long shadows from the setting sun in Finland’s Lapland region, Nullmeyer was in sixth place after the first run and maintained that position with a strong second run. St-Germain was a model of consistency today, finishing ninth in the first race and seventh in the second race. St-Germain now finished in the top 10 in three of the last five World Cup slaloms last season.

Amelia Smart (Invermere, BC) and Justine Lamontagne (St-Ferréol-les-Neiges, QC) did not make it to the second run.

The men’s downhill race on Sunday in Zermatt-Cervinia was canceled again for safety reasons due to heavy snowfall.

Next races: (shortcut to the FIS calendar)

Women’s downhill speed race in Zermatt-Cervinia, SUI, 18-19. November.

Men’s Tech Racing Slalom in Gurgl, AUT, November 18th.
