WestJet back online after system outage, but further disruption expected

WestJet says it has fixed a system-wide outage, but still expects further service outages on Sunday.

The widespread technology failure had forced many WestJet flights to be canceled or delayed on Saturday.

“All systems are now online and stable. Unfortunately, we anticipate further disruptions as we work to recover from the system-wide outage. We sincerely apologize for the significant inconvenience,” the company said in a statement. a tweet on Sunday.

WestJet said the outage had impacted its operations, causing “increasing delays” across its network and cancellations.

The Canadian airline said its contact center was unable to access customer reservations.

WestJet did not provide a reason for the outage.

Calgary International Airport said in a tweet on Saturday that passengers passing through its airport may be delayed “due to a global WestJet computer outage.”

He said customers should check with their airline for flight information.

WestJet has not said when service will be fully restored.

“WestJet is aware of a system-wide outage which is impacting operations and we continue to work to bring all systems online,” WestJet media relations adviser Madison Kruger said. , in an emailed statement.
