Program Sudirman Cup 2021 – Indonesia Against ROC, Canada, then Denmark All

KOMPAS.com – The mixed team badminton tournament, Sudirman Cup 2021, will take place from September 26 to October 3, 2021 in Vantaa, Finland.

Indonesia is in Group C with Denmark, the ROC (Russian Olympic Committee) and Canada.

By launching the World Badminton Federation (BWF) website, Indonesia will start wrestling in the Sudirman Cup against ROC on Sunday (9/26/2021).

After that, Indonesia must face Canada (27/9) before meeting Denmark in the final match of the group stage (29/9).

If you look at the material of players belonging to each competing country, Denmark is the strongest opponent of the Red & White team.

Denmark also has a number of top players, including Viktor Axelsen, who is world number two in men’s singles and gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Considering the intense competition, PBSI as the parent of Indonesian badminton does not want to play games.

The main team with the addition of several young players are set to be brought to Finland to win the Sudirman Cup.

The Indonesian team will be reinforced by the top three in men’s doubles, namely Marcus Fernaldi Gideon / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan and Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

In men’s singles, PBSI also fielded its best players, namely Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito.

Meanwhile, women’s singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung will be joined by potential young player Putri Kusuma Wardani who won the 2021 Spanish Masters in May.

In addition to Gregoria and Putri, the Indonesian women’s singles was completed by Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, who, according to PBSI data, just turned 17 on August 26.

In addition, the women’s doubles team will consist of Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu who are gold medalists at the Tokyo Olympics and Ribka Sugiarto / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

For the mixed doubles, PBSI brought in two partners, namely Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti and Rinov Rivaldy / Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.

So far, only three countries have won the Sudirman Cup, namely Indonesia, China and South Korea.

Indonesia won the first Sudirman Cup in Jakarta in 1989.

Meanwhile, South Korea won four titles and China dominated the Sudirman Cup with a record 11 titles.
