Peter Dinklage shared his thoughts on the controversial “Game of Thrones” finale and even praised the series for subverting viewers’ expectations.
The show ran for eight seasons before ending in 2019 with an ending that mostly bowled fans. Many felt that the grand prize for who would sit on the throne was absurd, and that the characters’ stories were wrapped up or changed too quickly.
However, Dinklage, who played fan favorite character Tyrion Lannister for the entire series, recently opened in an interview with The New York Times Where he defended the final and showed that he believes there is no way to adequately satisfy the fans.
The actor joked, “They want the Whites to go out together at sunset. By the way, it’s a fantasy. There is a dragon in it. Please.”

He went on to note that he believed the writers who came to the conclusion, based on George RR Martin’s unfinished fantasy novel series, should be commended for bringing about an ending no one expected.

Dinklage received four Emmy Awards for his stint on the show.
