Bogor (ANTARA) – PP Perbasi President Danny Kosasih aims to promote the National Women’s Basketball Team in the division during their participation in the 2021 FIBA ​​Asia Women’s Cup in Amman, Jordan, from November 7 to 13.

Indonesian basketball heroes will appear in Division B seeking promotion opportunities in Division A, which has already started the competition, and Japan have returned as champions for five consecutive editions after beating China 78-73 in the final on October 3 yesterday.

In a series of results from September 27 to October 3, India occupies the lowest position so that it is relegated from Division A. Indonesia is one of six countries vying for banknotes. promotion to replace India’s place.

“As for the target, yes, it must be able to penetrate into Division A, so that there is more Event routine that can be followed at the Asian level, ”Danny said at a meeting on the sidelines of the PP Perbasi plenary meeting in Bogor on Sunday.

To achieve this goal, the national team agency PP Perbasi appointed a new head coach for the national women’s team, namely Lin Chi Wen of Taiwan, to replace Lori Chizik of Canada who had won the medal of bronze at the 2019 SEA Games.

Danny also believes that Indonesia has enough opportunities to win a promotion ticket to the FIBA ​​Asia Women’s Cup Division A.

At least the former Panasia Indosyntec Bandung coach is hopeful that the women’s national team can enter the group stage of the 2021 FIBA ​​Asian Women’s Cup.

“At least you have to qualify from the pool first and then, on the right, cross over to determine qualifying for the semi-finals. You have to be able to qualify because it’s a great opportunity,” Danny concluded.

In Division B of the 2021 FIBA ​​Asian Women’s Cup, Indonesia joined Pool B with 2017 division finalist Kazakhstan, with Jordan as host. In Pool A, there are Iran, Lebanon and Syria.

Indonesia will begin their appearance in Amman by facing Kazakhstan on November 7, followed by a game against hosts Jordan a day later.

The group winners will immediately advance to the semi-finals, while the second and third positions will meet again to determine qualification for the semi-finals.
