JawaPos.com-The Indonesian national women’s basketball team will face the 2021 FIBA Women’s Asian Cup. The event will take place November 7-13 in Amman, Jordan.
In this preparation, PP Perbasi has appointed a new coach. Yuni Anggraeni et al will be managed by Lin Chi-wen. The Taiwanese coach replaced Lori Chizik. Chizik managed to bring Indonesia to a bronze medal at the 2019 SEA Games.
Manager Christopher Tanuwidjaja said Lin was chosen because of his experience. Since 2018, he has been assistant to the Taiwan team.
“We are drawn to the discipline and hard work of the Taiwanese players under Lin’s leadership. We hope he can instill that here as well,” said the man familiarly known as Itop.
At the 2021 FIBA Women’s Asian Cup, Indonesia are in the B division. They will face Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka. The national team have called up 15 players and will organize a training camp in Surabaya.
One of the players who attended training camp was Canadian-born, naturalized Kimberley Pierre-Louis.
The FIBA Women’s Asian Cup will be Louis’ first with the national team. He is a player who was naturalized with Lester Prosper and Brandon Jawato.
However, he was unable to defend the national team at the SEA Games 2019 as the process is not over. Under FIBA rules, each country is allowed to enter a naturalized player location.
