Meaghan Agosta is retiring at the age of 37

According to Anna Burns of Canadian Olympic gold medalist Meaghan Agosta of Windsor, Ontario, she retired at the age of 37 Penticton Western News on Friday. Agosta won a gold medal for Canada 2006 Winter Olympics in TurinThe Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and that 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

At four Winter Olympics (also won silver at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics) Agosta scored 17 goals and 11 assists for 28 points in 20 games. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Agosta was the tournament’s most valuable player, leading the tournament with 15 points and co-leading the tournament in goals (nine).

Agosta also won eight medals for Canada at the Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships. Two of those medals were gold, as Agosta was among the Canadian teams that placed first at the 2007 Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships in Winnipeg and the 2012 Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships in Burlington, Vermont. The other six medals were silver. In 40 games at the Women’s Ice Hockey World Championship, Agosta scored 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points.

Agosta also played in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. While playing for the Montreal Stars in 2011-12, she set the single-season points record with 80 points (41 goals and 39 assists).
