‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Game Available October 26 on PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC. Unlike last year’s Marvel’s Avengers, this time it’s a 100% single-player game. Another big news: the game is entirely developed by the Canadian studio Edios Montreal, which proved with the excellent reboot of the series “Tomb Raider” that they have a gift for the solo.
Inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book and movie, this game takes you on a completely original adventure. You play as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, not the most polished hero in the galaxy but with a charismatic and fun personality. On his ship Milan, he travels the universe with his team: Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora and Drax. If you’ve ever watched the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, you know they excel not only in their jokes but also in their music. This formula is also found throughout the game. You follow the constant bickering between the various crew members in the front row: Drax takes everything literally, Rocket Raccoon fights everyone and Groot simply says “I am a Groot “. All of them dominated the songs of the eighties of the last century. What a fun battle with the songs “The Final Countdown”, “Take on Me” and “Tainted Love”.
The gameplay is at the same level. It was impossible to play directly with the other Guardians, but they stayed focused. To progress in the game, you must activate the interactions between them and certain elements of the environment. In many clashes, you match your character’s attacks with those of your four comrades. It might sound complicated on paper, but in practice you can master it in the blink of an eye. Guardians of the Galaxy is not an open world game. As a player you have somewhat limited freedom. The game is very linear, but that doesn’t spoil the fun.
On the menu of this action adventure: Lots of fights and discussions, a little exploration and puzzles to solve, QTEs, multiple maneuver missions on your ship and above all, a powerful, rich and varied adventure. You’re nice to him too, as it took us about 20 hours to complete 16 chapters of the game. Like cake sprinkles, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a visual hit as well. We tested the game on Xbox Series X and it looked amazing, one of the prettiest games of the new generation. There’s no doubt about it: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has been a pleasant surprise this year.
