Golf Canada Chief Sport Officer Kevin Blue will be leaving the organization as he assumes the role of Secretary General and CEO of Canada Soccer.

“We are extremely grateful for what Kevin has accomplished during his tenure as Chief Sport Officer for Golf Canada in advancing the sport and our mission, and wish him incredible luck,” said Laurence Applebaum, CEO of Golf Canada. “Kevin has been a transformative leader for Golf Canada and has made fundamental progress on many of our sporting priorities, particularly with the high performance program and junior grassroots initiatives, championships, safe sport and fundraising.” His energy and contributions to Canadian golf have been exceptional and he is well-positioned as a dynamic sports executive to thrive in this new chapter at the top of Canadian soccer.”

Since returning to Canada in January 2021, Blue has been a driving force behind Golf Canada’s vision and impact on Canadian golf. He has been instrumental in many of Golf Canada’s strategic priorities and helped drive several initiatives including First Tee – Canada, National Golf League (NGL), She Plays Golf, Junior Golf Facility Awards and the development of Golf Canada’s Amateur Championships.

A strong advocate for community and accessible golf, Blue played a key role in Golf Canada’s attention to diversity, equity, inclusion and safe sport. He also had a significant impact on the Golf Canada Foundation, helping to recruit, build and partner with key program donors.
