Kemendikbudristek asks teachers to actively introduce traditional games

Garut (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia has asked teachers from Garut Regency in West Java to be more active in introducing traditional games so that their existence is still known to students amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The dialogue, which was attended by teachers and middle school students as well as culturalists and indigenous people from Garut, said Sjamsul, should be able to recognize the diversity, richness and cultural objects belonging to Garut Regency.

So far, he said, the impact of distance education due to the COVID-19 epidemic has made many people, including students, forget the work of indigenous peoples, at know the traditional games which teach friendliness, mutual cooperation, taste and sport.

“We want to introduce traditional games to children, because with one year of learning at home, many children do not recognize it,” said Sjamsul.

He indicated that the activity on the theme of dialogue on empowerment strategies of indigenous peoples was aimed at monitoring cultural progress, especially with the aim of awakening the community to create a sense of belonging to its wealth. cultural.

“We invite all ladies and gentlemen to invite together, meet, re-recognize the diversity, wealth, objects of cultural promotion in accordance with the mandate of the law for the advancement of culture, so that later the wealth of Garut Regency can crawl to the surface together, ”he said.

In the same event, X DPR RI Commission member Ferdiansyah added that the works and traditions that have existed among indigenous peoples must continue to be introduced and preserved so that their existence is not lost in time.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he said, the government and the community must continue to try to maintain various traditional characteristics that are expected to later become a source of economic growth.

“This use can be an economic source, it could be that traditional sports one day become an attraction,” he said.
