Indian woman wins top Canadian scholarship worth Rs 2 Cr

Abu Dhabi: An Indian girl based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has won more than one million dirhams (Rs 2,14,94,966) from the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship, offered by the University of Toronto in Canada .

Candace Sara Ciju, an alumnus of GEMS United Indian School Abu Dhabi, was selected as the top 5 of 37 global scholarship recipients.

The Canadian scholarship fully covers tuition fees, living expenses, food, books, stationery, health insurance, incidentals, etc. for the duration of Candace’s four-year undergraduate studies.

“I am thrilled and incredibly grateful to have been chosen as a Pearson Scholar this year at the U of T, which is Canada’s No. 1 university and has consistently ranked among the top ten public universities in the world in every ranking. major,” Candace told Gulf News.

Candace is an avid writer and debater, she has won prestigious awards such as “Sheikh Hamdan Award”, “Sharjah Award” and “Sheikha Fatima Award”.

Candace in 2012 also founded the ‘Re-Use of Books Campaign’ initiative, which collects used books in good condition so they can be reused by others. To date, the initiative has collected over 11,000 books.
