Former NHL center Tyler Ennis is retiring at the age of 34

Accordingly TSN On Wednesday, former National Hockey League center Tyler Ennis of Edmonton, Alberta, retired from professional hockey at the age of 34. Ennis played 13 seasons in the NHL from 2009 to 2022. He played for the Buffalo Sabers from 2009 to 2017, the Minnesota Wild from 2017 to 2018, the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2018 to 2019, the Ottawa Senators from 2019 to 2020 and again from 2021 to 2022, and the Edmonton Oilers from 2020 to 2021.

Ennis most recently played for the Mannheim Eagles in Germany. However, he suffered a neck injury in November and has decided to retire from the game.

Ennis played 700 NHL regular season games. He scored 144 goals and 202 assists for 346 points. He was a -84 with 224 penalty minutes, 97 power play points, one shorthanded point, 13 game-winning goals, 1,446 shots on goal, 669 faceoff wins, 297 blocked shots, 658 hits, 287 takeaways and 231 giveaways. Ennis’ shorthanded point was a shorthanded goal and came on October 11, 2014 in the Sabres’ 6-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ennis also scored four goals and added eight assists for 12 points in 24 postseason games. He was a +5 with 10 penalty minutes, a game-winning goal, 50 shots on goal, two faceoff wins, seven blocked shots, 31 hits, 19 takeaways and eight giveaways. Ennis’ most memorable postseason goal came on April 2, 2011. He scored the overtime winner by Steve Montador of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Mike Weber in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, a 4-3 Sabers victory about the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ennis also had two hat-tricks in his career. The first was a 6-2 Maple Leafs victory over the Calgary Flames on March 4, 2019 and the second was a 5-0 Senators victory over the Buffalo Sabers on January 25, 2022.
