Emerance Maschmeyer records the first PWHL shutout of his career

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Emerance Maschmeyer of Bruderheim, Alberta, recorded her second shutout in the Professional Women’s Hockey League on Wednesday. Maschmeyer, who won gold for Canada in women’s hockey 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Made 26 saves in Ottawa’s 3-0 win over New York at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Maschmeyer made five saves in the first period, eleven in the second period and ten in the third period. Alex Carpenter, daughter of former National Hockey League All-Star and Stanley Cup champion Bobby Carpenter, led New York with four shots on goal.

Three Canadians scored offensively for Ottawa. They were Daryl Watts of Toronto, Ontario, and Canadian Olympic champions Brianne Jenner of Oakville, Ontario and Emily Clark of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Jenner also led Ottawa with two points as she had a goal and an assist. Clark and Jenner won a gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, while Jenner also won a gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

This season, Maschmeyer has a record of six wins, six regulation losses and four overtime losses, with one shutout, as well as a 2.28 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. Ottawa currently sits fourth in the PWHL with 24 points. They have a record of six wins, six regular season losses and six overtime losses, for 24 points.
