Japan’s Naomi Osaka lost her chance to defend her Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open after losing to young Canadian Leylah Fernandez.
INDOSPORT.COM – Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka had to lose her chance to defend her Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open after being beaten by young Canadian tennis player Leylah Fernandez.
Playing at Flushing Meadows, New York on Saturday (09/04/21), Osaka, who was the third seed, was unable to advance to the last 16 of the 2021 US Open after being stopped by Leylah Fernandez.
Osaka got off to a good start, especially with his serve, which did not face a break point in the first set. After defending themselves for 10 games, Osaka snatched the last nine points to win the opening set 7-5.

This is the second biggest loss for Naomi Osaka after her early exit to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in July-August.
The US Open is actually Osaka’s first Grand Slam tournament after missing the French Open and Wimbledon.
