Commanders owner Daniel Snyder recently agreed terms for a record $6 billion sale of the franchise to an investment group led by Josh Harris, who also owns the franchise NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and NHL’s New Jersey Devils. A week later, Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos claims the transaction is far from complete. tells CNBC Montag that he is “still looking” to buy the Commanders.

“To respect the process that the NFL “I think it would be inappropriate for me to comment at this time as this is a live process,” Apostolopoulos said. … (But) I’m still on the hunt, yes.”

When asked for details on his chances of beating the Harris Group, Apostolopoulos gave no financial details. However, he pointed out that the bidding is his and Harris’s and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is not on it.

“It’s hard to say right now (how close we are) and being a live process I really don’t feel comfortable saying too much,” he explained. “But it’s a head-to-head process at the moment. I only know what’s been in the news (about Bezos) and from what I’ve seen he’s not involved in the process.”

Last week, the NFL reportedly received terms of a potential sale of the Commanders to Harris Sportico. From there, according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the league should review the agreement and return it to Snyder and Harris for final amendment and signature. The final step would be to resubmit the agreement to the NFL for approval by other owners. The owners plan to meet in May for a regular spring meeting where a final vote could take place.
