Toronto native Samantha Bee returns home to host the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards.

Organizers of the ceremony celebrating Canada’s top film and television artists said Bee will host the final night of Canadian Screen Week, which is being held in person for the first time in four years.

The celebrations begin on April 11 with the presentation of awards for sports, news and information programs.

On April 12, children’s animation, lifestyle and reality awards will be presented, while on April 13, digital, immersive and cinematic arts programs will be honored. Prizes for comedic and dramatic arts will be awarded on April 14th.

Bee, who made her name as a correspondent on “The Daily Show” before hosting her late-night comedy series “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee,” said she is looking forward to meeting “the best creative minds in our country “to celebrate in person.

The show will air April 16 on CBC and CBC Gem. Special honorees include Ryan Reynolds, Catherine O’Hara and Simu Liu.

The nominees will be announced on February 22nd.
