Canada wins the World Women’s Curling Championship twice

Team Canada has won its first two games of the 2024 World Women’s Curling Championship in Sydney, Nova Scotia. On Saturday, Canada beat Sweden 7-6 and Denmark 7-4. Skipping the Canadian team this year is Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario.

In Canada’s win over Sweden, the Canadian team received a fantastic first-period hit and roll from third Tracy Fleury of Sudbury, Ontario, leading to an early 2-0 lead. The duel gave Team Canada the initial momentum it needed against a Swedish team represented by Anna Hasselborg, the gold medalist from Canada Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.
