LONDON, December 2. / TASS /. Britain, the United States, the European Union and Canada have called on Minsk to immediately and permanently stop organizing illegal migration across borders with the EU. This is indicated by a joint statement released Thursday by London, Washington, Brussels and Ottawa.

“We again demand that the regime [президента Белоруссии Александра] Lukashenko immediately and completely stopped organizing illegal migration across borders with the EU. Those in Belarus or in third countries who help illegal crossings of the EU’s external borders must know that it will cost them dearly, ”the statement said about the introduction of the next coordinated package of sanctions against Minsk.

On Thursday, the UK Foreign Office reported that five journalists from state media and Belaruskali society were facing further sanctions against Belarus. The blacklist also included the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Belarusian Interior Ministry Andrei Parshin, the judge of the Frunzensky District Court of Minsk Natalya Buguk and the former deputy prosecutor of the same court Alina Kasyanchik.

The migration crisis on Belarus’ borders with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, where refugees have been flocking since the start of the year, worsened sharply on November 8. Several thousand people approached the Polish border from the Belarusian side, some of them attempted to enter Polish territory, breaking the barbed wire fence. Later, around 2,000 people were accommodated in the Bruzgi transport and logistics center near the border with Poland, where the conditions for temporary stay were created, there are now around a thousand people. At the same time, Lukashenka said that between 2 and 3,000 refugees from Middle Eastern countries, in addition to those accommodated in this camp, could be on the territory of the republic.
