Drake steps down from 2022 Grammy nominations

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com Singer Drake has officially stepped down from 2022 Grammy nominations.

Even though the 35-year-old musician was included in the nomination for best rap album for Boy in love certified and the song “Way 2 Sexy” in Best Rap Performance.

The Recording Academy also granted Drake’s request to withdraw from the Grammy Awards.

The Recording Academy has also not replaced the vacant position left by Drake.

The two remaining nominations leave only four nominees.

The Best Rap Performance category will now be contested by “Family Ties”, “Up”, “My Life” and “Thot S-“.

In the Best Rap Album category, the contest goes to J Cole, Nas’ King, Kanye West and Tyler the Creator.

Drake’s decision to walk away from the Grammy Awards after his criticisms were never heard.

The Canadian rapper criticized the Recording Academy for not including The Weeknd in all categories after the album’s huge success After hours dan singel “Blinding Lights”.

“I think we need to stop surprising ourselves every year by being disconnected from the big impact music and the awards that are out there,” Drake said at the time.

Drake pointed out that there was a game behind the Grammy Awards so that some of the musicians who really deserved to win didn’t appear in the nominations.

So far, Drake has won four Grammys, two from “Hotline Bling” in 2017, one from “God’s Plan” and the last from Take Care in 2013.
