A record set sold by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) has been recalled because it contains lead above acceptable limits.
The WSO sent out an alert Wednesday saying Health Canada had recalled Canadian Art Prints’ William Monague ceramic plate set that was sold at the music stand.
According to Health Canada, the recall involves signs that read “Tranquility and Teachings.” The order code is PLT015 and the UPC is 772665860151. Both the order code and UPC can be found on the packaging.
This news comes after Health Canada found the panels contained lead above permissible limits. The government agency notes that lead is highly toxic and can cause serious health effects such as anemia, vomiting and diarrhea.
If you purchased this plate set, you should stop using it immediately and then contact Canadian Art Prints and Winn Devon Art Group Inc. for a refund. It is also recommended that you destroy the product.
The WSO apologized for any inconvenience and noted that it had been informed that the product was tested and food safe. The company announced that it would end its cooperation with the manufacturer and conduct independent product tests in the future.
As of March 21, Health Canada has not received any reports of harm regarding this product.
