Marc-Andre Fleury records his 75th career NHL shutout

Canadian Olympian Marc-Andre Fleury of Sorel, Quebec, recorded his 75th career shutout in the National Hockey League on Thursday. He accomplished the feat with 16 saves in the Minnesota Wild’s 2-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Fleury had seven saves in the first period, just two in the second period and seven saves in the third period. Ryan Strome of Mississauga, Ontario, defenseman Ollen Zellweger of Calgary, Alberta and Pavol Regenda led the Ducks with two shots each.

Of Fleury’s 75 NHL shutouts, 44 came with the Pittsburgh Penguins, 23 with the Vegas Golden Knights and four each with the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks. In the 2023-24 season, Fleury has a record of 16 wins, 11 regular season losses and three overtime losses, with two shutouts. He has a goals-against average of 2.70 and a save percentage of .904. Fleury’s other shutout this season was a 5-0 Wild win over the New York Islanders on January 15th.

With the win, the Wild improve to a record of 33 wins, 27 regulation losses and seven overtime losses, for 73 points. They are four points behind the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights for a playoff spot.
