Wow cool – Popularity “Squid game“It’s always interesting to keep up with the various details related to the Netflix dramas. One is the costumes used by survival game agents who wear pink tracksuits and masks that cover their entire faces.
But who would have thought that the production team initially planned for a more extreme costume. This was recently revealed by director Hwang Dong Hyuk during an interview with Netflix Korea.
“At first I wanted clothes like scouts, but it showed the male figure too clearly. It didn’t really make them look like ants in an ant colony,” said director Hwang Dong Hyuk.
“They have to cover their whole body. And the best option to keep it a secret is a jumpsuit. With a hoodie too, because they have to cover their face,” continued director Hwang Dong Hyuk.

While it’s hard to imagine some of the “Squid Game” characters with the show’s scariest jobs dressed as scouts, this was actually Hwang Dong Hyuk’s original plan.
It could have been a childish theme of the show but was replaced by the bright colors of the costumes. “Let’s make the color very childish, so that it isn’t scary or scary,” director Hwang Dong Hyuk said.
Artistic Director Chae Kyung Sun then added, “The mask has undergone countless designs.” Hwang Dong Hyuk explained this by saying, “We tried animals and other strange things.”
Chae Kyung Sun then detailed the specific elements to consider when creating masks for his costumes, including inspiration. “It has to be easy to wear. It has to offer a clear view. It has to express their class. So I was inspired by Hahoe-tal (Korean traditional masks) and fencing masks,” said Chae Kyung Sun.
The last detail they added to the mask was a request from the director. “I asked to make it foldable,” Hwang Dong Hyuk said. “And it gets more interesting. He gets extra details like an ant’s mouth,” Chae Kyung Sun concluded.
