Canadian soccer superstar Christine Sinclair played her penultimate international match on Friday evening in Langford and helped the Canadian team to a decisive victory against Australia.
Starlight Stadium was packed as the 10th-seeded Canadians defeated the 11th-seeded Australians with a final 5-0 victory.
Sinclair has enjoyed a career spanning more than two decades and is the world’s all-time leading goalscorer with 190 goals.
The 40-year-old from Burnaby, B.C., was honored before the game with her two nieces presenting her with a commemorative jersey.

Sinclair’s final game will be played in Vancouver on Tuesday, December 5th.
The 41,000-plus seats at BC Place Stadium are expected to be full during the game.
The stadium will also be renamed Christine Sinclair Place for the night, and on Friday, BC Tourism Minister Lana Popham announced that December 12 has been declared “Christine Sinclair Day” in British Columbia.
The province’s tourism minister isn’t the only one celebrating Sinclair.
Ryan Reynolds also congratulated Sinclair on her brilliant career and thanked her for inspiring young athletes in Canada and around the world.
