2021 Sudirman Cup results: Greysia Apriyani beats Canadian pair, Indonesia ties 2-2: Okezone Sports

VANTAA – Double couple of girls Gresysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu, successfully contributed to the victory points of the Indonesian team. This result saw the Red & White team tie Canada 2-2 in the group stage. Sudirman Cup 2021.

The duo that won the Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medals demonstrated the quality of their game by toppling Canadian women’s doubles, Rachel Chan / Catherine Choi. Greysia / Apriyani have won back-to-back matches 21-16, 21-10.

Playing at Energia Areena on Monday (9/27/2021), Greysia / Apriyani immediately pressed from the start of the first game. They seem so motivated to bring points to the Red and White team.

Greysia / Apriyani continued to score one-on-one against the Canadian pair in Game 1. The status of gold medalists at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics made them both quite confident yesterday.

After winning at the break, Greysia / Apriyani secured the opening game with a score of 21-16. Entering the second game, the Indonesian pair again tried to keep up the pace of the game.

Apriyani’s hard smash and Greysia’s smooth forward net play kept them scoring points from their opponents. Greysia / Apriyani won 11-6 in the second interval of play.

Pressure from the world number six duo made it difficult for the Canadian women’s doubles to develop their game. Slowly but surely, after the break, Greysia / Apriyani continued to add points.

Greysia / Apriyani did not get significant resistance in the second game. After winning at the break, they easily snatched the second game 21-10.

The victory saw Indonesia equalize Canada 2-2. The mixed doubles number will determine the winner of this match.
