In today’s The Big Story podcast, part four of our series, we talk about health care. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve been hearing about our crumbling system. But the cracks didn’t start four years ago.

Dr. Alika Lafontaine is a past president of the Canadian Medical Association and the first Indigenous physician to be named to Medical Post’s list of 50 Most Influential Doctors. “The problems of each province and territory are not so unique that we need our own plans and approaches to them. That’s a myth we keep telling Canadians, and it’s the cause of many of our big problems going unsolved,” said Dr. Lafontaine.
