CALGARY — WestJet has announced that it has temporarily suspended transatlantic service between three Canadian cities and Europe. The airline announced on Monday that it was suspending transatlantic service between Halifax and Europe as part of its 2023 summer schedule.

The airline announced on Monday that it was suspending transatlantic service between Halifax and Europe as part of its 2023 summer schedule.

It also confirmed it had suspended transatlantic service to Europe from Vancouver and Toronto from early December 2022.

The airline says the moves are part of a series of strategic decisions it is making for its transatlantic service to deal with capacity constraints.

John Weatherill, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of WestJet, said the changes were “difficult decisions, but the temporary suspension will help the airline reposition its investments to better serve passengers in the years to come.

WestJet had previously suspended between Halifax and Montreal from October 28. Flights between Halifax and Sydney, N. Jan. 10, respectively.
