VANCOUVER: On Thursday, the Vancouver football team defeated Whitecaps CF Montreal 2-1 at BC Place Stadium. The Vancouver Whitecaps secured their second Voyageurs Cup.
For clarification, the Voyageurs Cup is Canada’s national professional football trophy, awarded to the country’s top men’s and women’s clubs.
For the first time in club history, the Whitecaps have won the Voyageurs Cup back-to-back.
After defeating CF Montreal, the Vancouver Whitecaps become the first Major League Soccer (MLS) club to qualify for the revamped 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.

In the second half, the Vancouver Whitecaps’ Brian White scored in the 57th minute of play, giving his side a one-goal lead.
Later in the 65th minute, Ryan Gauld scored a penalty and put the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 up.
CF Montreal’s Sunusi Ibrahim scored his team’s consolation goal in the 83rd minute.
The final score of the game was 2-1, Vancouver Whitecaps won their second consecutive Canadian Championship.
