Vale rescues 33 workers trapped in Canadian mine; the others are on their way

A mining company Valley (VALE3) reported that 33 workers who were trapped in an underground mine in the Canada they returned to the surface Tuesday morning, and nine more are on their way, according to a statement.

According to the company, work to rescue workers from the Totten mine in Sudbury, Ont., Continues after the successful removal of most people.

On Sunday, 39 employees were arrested after an excavator shovel broke off, blocking access and making the means of transport unavailable to employees.

During the assessment of site conditions, employees visited underground refuge stations as part of company procedures.

Employees who had not yet been rescued are expected to surface this morning, according to Vale.

The rescued workers are in good health and “can’t wait to get home,” the miner said.
