Uttar Pradesh Government road shows abroad: Canadian company signs MoU for ₹2050 crore investment in Kanpur

Government of Uttar Pradesh road shows on foreign shores are getting an “overwhelming response” and the signing of memorandums of understanding for investment has begun ahead of the UP-2023 Global Investor Summit to be held here from 10 to Feb. 12, according to a statement from the state government. .

In one of the highlights of the globetrotting effort so far, a Canadian company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh delegation visiting Toronto, Canada for a investment worth 2050 crores for setting up a multi-specialty hospital, medical college and medical device manufacturing unit in Kanpur, according to the statement from the state government.

Suresh Madan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of My Health Center, a Canadian company, Madan signed the MoU, the statement added.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent eight teams to different destinations. The objective of attracting investment from 10 lakh crore has been set for the Uttar Pradesh-2023 Global Investor Summit held with the aim of making the state a trillion dollar economy in five years.

State Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Livestock Minister Dharampal Singh Saini and Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra lead the UP team in Toronto. Mahana welcomed the members of the Indo-Canadian Chambers of Commerce and assured all cooperation for investment in Uttar Pradesh. About 70 to 80 investors from the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce attended the occasion.

The delegation also met representatives of companies like OMERS, IMEC, OTPP at a dinner hosted by the Indian Consulate in Toronto and invited them to UPGIS-2023.

Yogi’s teams have so far organized road shows in Frankfurt (Germany), London (UK) and Toronto (Canada). They discussed investment opportunities in various sectors of the state as well as the government’s investor-friendly policies with the respective country officials.

Invest UP and Canada India Foundation (CIF) have partnered for the promotion of UPGIS 2023. CIF will act as the brand ambassador of Uttar Pradesh in Canada.

In Frankfurt, Minister of Industrial Development Nand Gopal Gupta “Nandi” invited German investors to Uttar Pradesh. He assured the investors of any possible cooperation. Public Works Minister Jitin Prasad and other officials briefed business organizations on investment opportunities in UP’ on this occasion. The delegation also had lengthy discussions with the city’s mayor, Uwe Becker. A strong partnership between Uttar Pradesh and Frankfurt for vocational training in the skilled labor, aviation, mobility, pharmaceutical and IT sectors was also discussed.

Key players including Motherson Group, Samson Group, Innoplexus and ZaaK Technologies have expressed their intention to invest in UP while partnerships in R&D, skills development and labor exchange- of work were forged with the German company.

The road show led by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna’s team in the UK focused on the defense sector and deepening trade relations between the two countries through the UK- India 2030. Trade between the two countries is expected to reach £29.6 billion in FY2022, up 37.1% on the previous year. The delegation met with representatives of ADS Group Limited and the UK Defense and Security Exports Division Department. Discussions were held on how UK defense industries can help realize the potential of the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor. The delegation met Paul West of BAE Systems. BAE Systems is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of defense equipment, preparing for large investments in the state.

The delegation met with representatives of Martin Baker Aircraft Company Ltd and invited them to UPGIS 2023. A discussion took place on how Uttar Pradesh can partner with the company in the defense and aerospace. The delegation also met with representatives of the Thales Group and discussed with them how the Thales Group headquarters based in Noida, India could increase its presence in Uttar Pradesh. The delegation met with Patrick Horgan, Director of Global Network, and discussed the potential of UP in the defence, aerospace and civil aviation sectors.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak opened an exhibition on “Lok Mein Ram” organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (Lord Rama’s Life Story) at the Gurudev Tagore Indian Cultural Center, Mexico. Rajneesh Dube, additional chief secretary of the livestock department, highlighted opportunities in the dairy development sector during a road show in Mexico and invited the business fraternity there to explore investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
