Ukraine’s partner countries make sure Poroshenko case is transparent – news from Ukraine, Politics

The US, EU and Canadian embassies have said on Twitter that they are closely following developments in the “coal case” against the fifth president. Petro Poroshenko… He is suspected of having organized an illegal scheme to buy coal for state money in the temporarily occupied Donbass territories.

Partner countries call for the investigation to be impartial, independent and not “politically motivated”. The dispute must be based on an independent process, fairness and transparency, they added.

On December 20, 2021, Poroshenko announced suspicions of treason in the “coal trade”. The investigation finds that its actions compromised Ukraine’s energy security in 2014-2015 and made the energy sector dependent on the Russian Federation.
