The seventh round of the Formula 1 racing season, which was originally scheduled to take place in Canada, will replace the Turkish Grand Prix from June 11-13. About that reported on the organization’s website.

“We are grateful to the promoter and to the authorities in Canada, Quebec and Montreal for the efforts made over the past few weeks to try to host the race, and we are delighted to announce a two-year extension of our partnership. with the Grand Prix, ”the statement said.

The organization also noted that organizers will attempt to reimburse fans who have already purchased tickets for the Canadian leg of the racing series.

“We will work with the promoter to ensure that those with tickets for the 2020 and 2021 races can get their money back or carry over their tickets for next year’s race and look forward to racing in Canada in 2022,” says the press release.

Thus, the Turkish stage of Formula 1 will return to the racing series calendar for the second time in the last two years. Before that, the country had not held a Grand Prix for nine consecutive years. In November last year, the British driver of the Mercedes team Lewis Hamilton during the Turkish stage became a seven-time world champion, catching up on this indicator with the German Michael Schumacher.

It should be noted that the decision to replace the planned stage in Canada was taken by Formula 1 management due to the inability to organize long flights due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic around the world. . “I would like to thank the promoter and the Canadian authorities for all their efforts in recent weeks, but the travel situation made our plans impossible,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1. In addition, he also noted the excellent condition of the track in Turkey. “I know all of our fans are excited about the spectacular start to the season, but Turkey is a great track with great battles,” he added.

The report notes that Formula 1 executives continue to abide by the safety measures that have allowed teams to travel to 12 countries over the past year. In total, during the 2020 season, pilots have passed more than 78,000 tests for the detection of COVID-19. Positive results were only confirmed in 78 cases of them, representing 0.1% of the total. At the moment, at the start of the current racing championship, the organizers have carried out more than 12,000 tests (14 positive results, which again amounted to 0.1%).

This year there were two stages – the Bahrain and Italian Grand Prix. Next time around, the teams’ drivers will head to the start of the competition in the third stage, which will take place in Portimão, Portugal. As part of the Grand Prix, riders will have to complete three free practices, qualify and compete in the main race. The third stage of Formula 1 will take place from April 39 to May 2.
