Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry of Surrey, British Columbia, recorded his 19th National Hockey League shutout on Tuesday. He achieved this feat in the Penguins’ 3-0 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It’s been an exciting season for Jarry, who leads the NHL with six shutouts this season.
On Tuesday, Jarry made eight saves in the first period, eight in the second period and seven in the third period. Kyle Connor led the Jets with six shots on goal.
Two Canadians scored offensively for Pittsburgh on Tuesday for the Penguins. Kris Letang of Montreal, Quebec, scored the winning goal at 7:16 of the first period. The goal came without an assist. Then, at 7:33 of the second period, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jeff Carter of London, Ont., scored ahead of Lars Eller and Erik Karlsson. Carter won the gold medal for Canada 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
In the 2023-24 season, Jarry has a record of 14 wins, 14 regulation losses and four overtime losses. In addition to his six shutouts, Jarry scored one goal. The Penguins goaltender also has a goals average of 2.45 and a save percentage of 0.916.
With the win, the Penguins improved to a record of 23 wins, 17 regulation losses and seven overtime losses. With 53 points, they are five points behind the Detroit Red Wings for a playoff spot.
