The 2024 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday in Arlington, Texas. There are three Canadians on the rosters, and ironically, they are all first basemen. They are Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec, Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor of Toronto, Ontario, and Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, who plays internationally for Canada as his parents are both from Ontario. Guerrero Jr. and Naylor will both play for the American League, while Freeman will represent the National League. Guerrero Jr. is the only Blue Jays player on the American League roster.

Guerrero Jr. has a batting average of .288 with 14 home runs and 55 runs batted in. In 95 games, 415 plate appearances and 371 at bats, he has scored 47 runs and had 107 hits, 20 doubles, two stolen bases, 40 walks, 169 total bases, two sacrifice flies, an on-base percentage of .359 and a slugging percentage of .456. This will be Guerrero’s fourth consecutive All-Star Game since 2021.

Naylor’s batting average is .246 with 22 home runs and 70 runs batted in. In 90 games, 379 plate appearances and 334 at bats, he has scored 54 runs and had 82 hits, 16 doubles, four stolen bases, 36 walks, 164 total bases, three sacrifice flies, an on-base percentage of .325 and a slugging percentage of .491. This will be Naylor’s first All-Star Game.

Freeman has a batting average of .291 with 14 home runs and 61 runs batted in. In 97 games, 425 plate appearances and 354 at bats, he has scored 57 runs and has 103 hits, 25 doubles, two triples, five stolen bases, 57 walks, 174 total bases, an on-base percentage of .395 and a slugging percentage of .492. Freeman’s two triples came in Dodgers wins. The first in the Dodgers’ 11-2 victory over the Braves on May 4 and the second in the Dodgers’ 4-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies on June 2. Freeman has participated in five All-Star Games with Atlanta (2013, 2014, 2018, 2019, 2021) and is now representing the Dodgers in the All-Star Game for the third year in a row.
