This weekend biking along the Detroit River will be good for both body and mind.

The Ride Don’t Hide event is being held Sunday to benefit the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex County.

It is the Canadian Mental Health Association’s 10th Anniversary fundraiser, which aims to raise money for vital mental health programs it offers that are not past the founding stages.

Interested riders can take part in a family-friendly 10K race. And if you want to challenge yourself, there are 20, 50 and 100km rides too.

The ride start line is located in the Children’s Aid Society parking lot on Riverside Drive.

Kerri Hill, community engagement manager at CMHA Windsor-Essex County, said she expects a good turnout and that there is still an opportunity for the public to register to help the organization serve the public who are critically mental health care needed.

“Ride Don’t Hide supports three programs here at CMHA that receive little or no government funding,” Hill said.

“That would be our customer relief fund, which allows us to provide short-term funds to needy customers. We have a bereavement program that offers education about grief and dealing with the loss of a loved one, as well as support groups and therapy. We are also raising funds to support our mental health portfolio.”
