The Oilers set a franchise record with their tenth consecutive victory

The Edmonton Oilers picked up a franchise win on Saturday. They did this with a 2-1 overtime win against the Montreal Canadiens. Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ont., scored the game-winning goal in overtime on a power play from Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Leon Draisaitl.

The longest winning streak to date was nine games. The first took place from February 20 to March 13, 2001, the second from March 27 to April 13, 2023.

The Oilers’ 10-game winning streak began on December 21 with a 6-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils. This was followed by a 4-3 Oilers victory over the New York Rangers on December 22nd, a 5-0 Oilers victory over the San Jose Sharks on December 28th, and a 3-2 shootout victory by the Oilers over the Los Angeles Kings on December 30th, a 7-2 Oilers victory over the Anaheim Ducks on December 31st, a 5-2 Oilers victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on January 2nd, a 3-1 Oilers victory over the Ottawa Senators on January 6th, a 2-1 Oilers victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on January 9th and a 3-2 Oilers overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings on January 11th before their victory over Montreal.

With the win over the Canadiens, the Oilers improved to a record of 23 wins, 15 regulation losses and one overtime loss to 47 points. They hold the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference.
