The Minto Cup, Canada’s National Junior A Lacrosse Championship, will be held in Brampton August 22-29.
“We couldn’t be more excited to host the Minto Cup in Ontario this year,” said Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) Commissioner Mark Grimes. “It’s been a long road back for our athletes and fans, but Ontario is ready to defend the Minto Cup on home soil – and we can’t think of a better place to do it than in the great lacrosse city of Brampton. .

The Minto Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious trophies in Canadian sport. It was donated in 1901 by Governor General Lord Minto and is competed annually by provincial champions from Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. The OJLL is the official host of the national championship and will be represented by Ontario champion Whitby Warriors and Ontario runner-up Toronto Beaches. British Columbia and Alberta will be represented by the Victoria Shamrocks and Edmonton Miners respectively.

The tournament has been postponed for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Orangeville Northmen were the 2019 champions.
